Preserving Omaha's Story, One Coaster at a Time
Photography has been a passion of mine from a very young age. But I didn't just pick up a camera and call myself a photographer — I built my skills from the ground up. I spent years working full time in photography labs, learning the technical side of the craft at a depth that most photographers never experience.
It was in those labs that I got to know professional photographers whose work I admired. I asked a few of them if I could assist on their sessions — and they said yes. Before long, while I was still printing photos at the labs, I began photographing weddings and portraits of my own.
More than 20 years ago I began taking my work to art fairs. I developed a signature style — a subtle painterly manipulation that gives my photos a soft, wavy quality. People would stop at my booth convinced they were looking at oil paintings.
Over the years I expanded into metal prints, magnets, and coffee mugs — printing everything myself. Then came the coasters. People loved having a little piece of Omaha right on their table.
